Measure A Update

Thank you to all who took time to vote at the special election held on June 12, 2007.   School Bond Measure "A" passed with 83% of the vote.

Word on Wiseburn—Measure A & District News

SPECIAL ELECTION JUNE 12th— PLEASE VOTE YES ON MEASURE "A"

A special election will be held on June 12, 2007 so that the community can vote on school bond Measure A. This is our opportunity to raise the necessary funds to finish modernizing the Wiseburn area schools. The Wiseburn school district boundaries go west to Sepulveda in El Segundo, which means that those businesses, (Mattel, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, etc. will pay 80% of these bonds. The remaining 20% will be paid by merely extending the existing bond payments [that expire in 2026] 10 years further until 2036. The assessment will remain the same. This means that this bond will NOT raise your property tax bill, which in the long run translates into an incredible value for our community. The Del Aire Neighborhood Association strongly urges you to get out and VOTE YES ON MEASURE "A."

Unification Status

Currently we are in Phase IV California State Office and Process Meetings. The state is in the process of interviewing and selecting an agency to perform our Environmental Impact Report (EIR).

Centinela and Wiseburn Joint Board Meeting/Workshop

Thanks to all who were able to make it to the joint Centinela Valley (CV) and Wiseburn School Board Meeting in which Wiseburn Unification was discussed during part of the agenda. Wiseburn is continuing to strive for an amicable and peaceful solution with the Centinela school board. The Wiseburn School Board members are actively discussing and working with the Centinela Board to keep the relationship affable. During the joint board meeting, Centinela Board President Jorge Luis Arroyo, expressed concern regarding Unification and the effect on the Centinela District. At some point, he made reference, as other board members have in the past, to a Charter School as a possible solution.

Unification Status

Currently we are in Phase IV California State Office and Process Meetings. Due to CVUHSD’s lawsuits, the state has had to complete a new EIR. This means another State hearing in the near future. However, we are confident that we will win. We’ve been down this road before and found our way to Victory. We can do it again.

Exploration Committee

The exploration committee is currently on hold until we get back to Phase V Election. The responsibility of the Exploration Committee is to provide community feedback by a written report to the WESD/WUSD Board on options for the type and location of the Wiseburn High School. We have collected names and contact information for those interested and will be contacting them post the State Board of Education approval for the second time.

Wiseburn Unification Update

June 2, 2005

Hi all,

I'm sorry we missed some of you on May 24. For those of you who were not able to make it here is a quick update:

Currently we are waiting for a new CEQA report from the state. Unfortunately Centinela was able to stall our unification process in court due to a small piece of paper not being posted on a bulletin board in the county office. However, we will forge forward and we will prevail! . . . more >>

Wiseburn Education Foundation - Rock Around the Block

May 10, 2005

Dear WEF Supporters,

The second annual Rock Around the Block planning and actual event has come to an end, but only until next year. The event was fantastic!! Approximately 2,000 kids, parents, and community members attended. Having the help of the staff at all the schools, the administration, parents and community supporters we raised nearly $50,000!!

The success of the walk-teams, silent auction and volunteers has made Rock Around the Block an event that will be on calendars for years to come.

Thank you to all that have made Rock Around the Block such an exciting journey into making the future years for students at Wiseburn more artistic and musical!

- On behalf of the Wiseburn Education Foundation
