Word on Wiseburn—Measure
A & District News
SPECIAL ELECTION JUNE
12th— PLEASE VOTE YES ON MEASURE "A"
A special election will be held on June 12, 2007 so that the
community can vote on school bond Measure A. This is our opportunity
to raise the necessary funds to finish modernizing the Wiseburn area
schools. The Wiseburn school district boundaries go west to
Sepulveda in El Segundo, which means that those businesses, (Mattel,
Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, etc. will pay 80% of these bonds. The
remaining 20% will be paid by merely extending the existing bond
payments [that expire in 2026] 10 years further until 2036. The
assessment will remain the same. This means that this bond will NOT
raise your property tax bill, which in the long run translates into
an incredible value for our community. The Del Aire Neighborhood
Association strongly urges you to get out and VOTE YES ON MEASURE
"A."
Measure A
will:
-
Build a new Cabrillo Elementary
School to replace the nearly 60-year old facility and provide all
our students with the same modern school facilities,
-
Qualify the District for $4
million in State matching funds,
-
Require a taxpayers' oversight
committee and annual audits,
Not increase annual tax rates (extends existing voter approved tax
rate from the year 2026 to 2036)
Fund raising efforts are currently
taking place and volunteers are needed for door to door walks and to
staff a phone bank. The door to door walks are in the process of
being formalized, but the phone bank is currently up and running. To
help with the phone bank please drop in at the Vista Mar School any
week day evening (Mon-Fri) between the hours of 5:00 pm and 8:30 pm.
The Vista Mar School is located at: 737 Hawaii, El Segundo, CA
