Wiseburn Unification Update
June 2, 2005
Hi all,
I'm sorry we missed some of you on May 24. For those of you who were
not able to make it here is a quick update:
Currently we are waiting for a new CEQA report from the state.
Unfortunately Centinela was able to stall our unification process in
court due to a small piece of paper not being posted on a bulletin
board in the county office. However, we will forge forward and we
will prevail!
So far Centinela has spent
thousands of dollars on attorney's fees using taxpayer's money in
fighting the inevitable in court. Wiseburn has spent $0. This is
because our effort comes from the community. We are parents and
community members looking for a better education for our children.
Lastly, I am sorry to report that John Peterson, due to an amazing
promotion he has received, will be relocating to Washington DC
shortly. He will be resigning as Chief Petitioner as of July 31,
2005. However, we are currently looking to fill his position prior
to his departure. CONGRATULATIONS JOHN! WE WILL MISS YOU SOOOO MUCH!
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank John for all the hours,
late nights, endless research, and unyielding determination to move
forward with this effort. Thank you John, for caring enough about
our community and our children to devote so much time and effort in
making this happen for us all. We will not forget you!
We will continue to move forward with our effort and we WILL BE
UNIFIED! The Chief Petitioners are leading this effort, but the
community of Wiseburn is going to carry it home.
Again and again, thanks to everyone for your continued support and
interest in our quest to provide our children with a better future.
Sincerely,
Lydia Rodriguez
